The Wagner Society in NSW established as an unincorporated association. 

Monday 9 March

AMP Theatrette, Circular Quay

6.30pm: A film night – documentaries on Bayreuth and the Ring Centenary – the Wagner Society’s first public function

Friday 22 May

Concordia Club, Stanmore

7pm:

– First Annual General Meeting, at which the interim committee stepped down, a new committee was elected and the Constitution was adopted.

– Wagner’s birthday was celebrated after the meeting, with German food and wine.

21 June

11am – 5pm: An afternoon of recorded music

6pm: Talk by Werner Baer MBE – an analysis of the music in the Prelude to Götterdämmerung in preparation for concert performances on 30 September and 3 October

6pm: Guest speaker, the Society’s patron, Sir Charles Mackerras – Wagner in Concert
