We are most privileged to be hearing from Stefan Vinke direct from his role as Walther von Stolzing in the Melbourne Meistersinger and previous Wagner roles around the world. Stefan will be singing Walther's final Prize Song from Meistersinger, together with the final aria in Andre Chenier: "Come un bel di di Maggio"' as well as having a q and a session.
After studies in Cologne, Stefan sang young heroic tenor roles at the National Theatre Mannheim. In 2000, international opera magazine, Opernwelt voted him "best young singer of the year". He has sung both Siegfried roles in Cologne, Venice, Lissabon, Strasbourg, Weimar, Berlin Deutsche Oper and the Salzburg Easter Festival and Siegfried in the Melbourne Rings. More recently in Leipzig, he has sung all their leading tenor roles, including Tristan, Parsifal, Lohengrin, Erik, Rienzi, Bacchus and Don José as well as Walther von Stolzing
Please note that St Columba’s Centre is a few blocks up from the Goethe on the opposite side of Ocean Street, and has easy access as it is on the ground floor.
Tea, coffee and wine will be provided.
It would be appreciated if members could bring a plate.
